Barbara Nigh's harmonious experiences with Sweet Adelines
began in 1978 when she joined the chorus. She also got involved with a
quartet which, over the next 25 years, took on a number of names - A
Touch of Velvet, Rhythm Review, Harmonichords, Lucky Ladies and Four for
the Road - but retained its focus on quality music performed with joy
and enthusiasm.
Shortly after joining the chorus Barb was recruited to
serve as Bulletin Editor, then Vice President and later President. She
served in the roles of Secretary and Treasurer and became the unofficial
assistant director. In 1982 she attended an Assistant Directors'
Seminar in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In 1988, Barb accepted the directorship and
continued in that position until 2001 when she retired from the post. She again took on the directorship in 2004 upon retirement from her day job as Supervisor of Health Services and
School nurse at Lompoc High and Lompoc Valley Middle School.
Barb has attended several
Directors' Seminars all of which have provided memorable moments as well
as training she has shared with her chorus.
